Trust

Cabin fever has me frustrated and creatively stumped, so when I read that the fabulous Brigit Delaney is running an April Poetry Challenge (https://brigitdelaney.com/2020/03/april-poetry-challenge-a-poem-a-day/), I heartened! I’m no formal poet by any stretch, but I do like to try my hand at verse from time to time. I’ll be sharing some of it here as many times as I can this month, often with audio. This also gives me a fantastic reason to highlight art by one of my favorite artists, HiT, who created my logo header image and whom I’ve highlighted in other posts. Be sure to check out his fantastic work here – https://www.deviantart.com/hedonistintraining.

Trust, Read by Carolyna Luna

Little thread of sustenance,
You’re buried deep inside.
Like a worm intent and hungry,
Feed on scraps to stay alive.
Hope escapes my heart, dear thread,
Extend your nubile length,
And store up the residuals
Before all faith is spent.
My little thread,
So tight and strong,
Like rebar under strain.
Do not coil up and hide
Within a synapse or a vein!
When shall you bless my starving heart
With your tender touch?
Time will tell, my idle friend,
For now, I shall just trust.
